Confirmation at Holy Cross is designed to provide our youth a basic foundation from which a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ – and a life of discipleship – can blossom and grow.
It begins with our 7th and 8th graders, as they learn biblical teachings and the catechism along with experiencing opportunities for deeper fellowship and service. Throughout their walk of faith, our confirmands are asked to think about what it means to live with the people of God and to help one another grow in faith, love, and obedience to God. They are encouraged to think about their futures in relation to their vocation and how they can live out that vocation in witness and service in the world. In addition to formal instruction, our confirmands are included in the entire life of the church through worship, family devotion, and service such as acolytes, attending in the nursery, service projects, retreats, including a week at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp.
The 9th grade year is a time for reflection and regular meetings with a mentor before the Rite of Affirmation of Baptism in the 10th grade year.
Confirmation classes are from 6:30 to 8:00 on Wednesday evenings during the school year, in addition to the Sunday morning education hour.
